  • Best Soaps for Exfoliating

Sometimes you just need a good exfoliating. It removes dead skin and leaves your skin looking fresh. For me personally, I love using exfoliating soaps when I come in from working out on the farm. It scrubs away the dirt and scratches away the itchiness I get from working with the straw and hay.

Which of our soaps are the best for exfoliating?

    Coffee Goat Milk Soap

Our Coffee Goat Milk Soap is a heavy exfoliant. In fact, it’s the heaviest exfoliant in our soap line. It has finely ground coffee beans making it super scratchy… It’s wonderful!

    Rosewood Salt Goat Milk Soap

Our Rosewood Goat Milk Soap is not quite as heavy of an exfoliant as our Coffee Goat Milk Soap but it would still fall into what I would consider the “heavy exfoliant” category. Once wet this soap’s texture transitions into something similar to a pumice stone. It’s surface is smooth while still being rough. It is an amazing exfoliant!

    Honey Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap

Our Honey Oatmeal Goat Milk soap is our lightest exfoliant. It has ground oatmeal throughout, which is what gives it it’s exfoliating factor. If you want an exfoliating soap, but don’t want something as course as the previous two soaps, then this is the soap for you. It gives you the experience you want from an exfoliating soap while still being on the sensitive side.

  • Best Soaps for Shaving

Two weeks ago I highlighted the best soap for your feet, since we will soon be experiencing sandal weather. With sandals also comes shorts and skirts, and tights are stored away for when fall returns. If you are like me you get out of the routine of shaving when your bare legs are no longer exposed, so now that the warm weather is returning it’s time to get back into the routine. So which of our goat milk soaps are best for shaving?

    Castile Goat Milk Soap

We highlight this soap often, but it is such a great multi-purpose soap that it lends itself to many different needs. This soap features a wonderful lotion-like lather which gives you a perfect surface for shaving, then that moisture stays with you long after you are done! It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

    Cedar Goat Milk Soap

Our Cedar Goat Milk Soap is made with the same recipe as our Castile, so it too has the perfect lather for shaving. We made it with male shave needs in mind, but it can obviously be used for both men and women. It features the deep woody scent of fresh cut cedar.

  • We are Proud of our Recipe

Before we opened The Freckled Farm Soap Company we knew that we needed to hit the market with a very special bar of soap. We wanted to try to stand out and make a special and unique product. We wanted to give people a reason to return over and over again!

Kevin and I both love to research. We weren’t going to use a stock recipe out of a book or from a website, we wouldn’t stand out that way, and if we were going to include an ingredient we needed to know exactly why it was used and what it added to the soap. We had a base recipe that we had been practicing with for a while, but it was not special enough to be the recipe that represented our company. Soap making is chemistry. Each oil plays a role in the soap, making it have certain characteristic like lather quality, moisturizing properties, or even the feel of the bar itself. The base recipe had properties that we liked, but we knew we could do better. We researched to figure out what oils we needed to add and at what quantities to add the desired properties to our soap. So we made little batches making small changes each time until the recipe was perfect!

In the end we landed on a really special recipe that was a million miles from the base recipe that we started with. We are incredibly proud of our final recipe and feel like it posses all of properties you could want in a soap. We hope that now that you know all of the thought and research that went into our final product that you enjoy our soap even more!

  • What’s in our Soap Dish – March

We are in the home stretch of winter and this month brings many changes to The Freckled Farm. New growth, and new babies! It’s a wonderful time of year on a farm! Find out how these changes change the soap in our soap dish! So, what’s in our soap dish in March?…

    Tea Tree Goat Milk Soap

I have a confession… I’m OCD. Actually this may only be a confession to some of the customers who don’t know me well because my friends and family are well aware. Kevin says he can actually see it in my eyes when I’ve been triggered. While I have several triggers, things like raw meat and certain farm activities are my biggest.  Daily chores don’t bother me, but when it comes to things like mucking the chicken coop, doing the big mucking of the barn to remove the winter’s deep bedding, and unfortunately dealing with chicks from hatcheries, I have to wash… constantly. So, what’s an OCD person, use to feel really clean? Tea Tree!

Why have I picked this soap for this month? Baby chicks! The baby chicks will be delivered soon. Yes, they are cute. Yes, I love having them around. They are great, but they are also dirty, kicking up their dust and pooping everywhere, and they carry bacteria (like all chickens)…. and they are in my house! Yep, that’s right. We keep the chicks in the mudroom until they get a little older and can move to the outside brooder. So this month I am going to be using a lot of tea tree soap!
