I always say tea tree is a love it or hate it scent. There isn’t a lot of people who fall in the middle. If you are the kind of person who prefers soft, floral type scents this might not be the soap for you. But if you like strong, crisp, clean scents then you will probably love our Tea Tree soap! At The Freckled Farm Soap Company the environment is of the utmost importance to us. Our love for the environment is a part of every decision we make as a company – from the oils we use right down to the labels of our soap.
So this isn’t the prettiest picture… But maybe it is? I guess it depends on how you look at it. As a small business we have to make a lot of decisions about the materials we use. We are incredible careful to source materials and products that are eco-conscious. It is why we will only use organic oils from sustainable sources. It’s why our goats eat organic hay and non-gmo feed. It’s also why we try to use compostable packaging that’s made from recycled materials for as many of our products as possible. When you are done with the packaging for your soap, instead of throwing it in the trash, throw it in your compost pile!

Lemongrass Green Tea Goat Milk Soap – Lemongrass is great for keeping bugs away. While it’s not going to keep everything away it is one tool to help you from getting bit while working outside.
Lavender Goat Milk Soap – This soap features the crisp floral scent of lavender. Smell like a garden all day!
Tea Tree Goat Milk Soap – Tea Tree is great for relieving the itchiness caused by some plants.
Coffee Goat Milk Soap – This is the perfect gardener soap! It is a must if you spend a lot of time with your hands in the dirt. Dirt stains skin and those stains are awful to get out, but the awesome grit in our Coffee Goat Milk Soap scrubs them away with ease.

Last time I featured a soap set it was highlighting heavily scented soaps. Today I have put together a set of lightly scented soaps.
From Left to Right: Coconut Lime, Coffee, Castile, Oatmeal Honey
Coconut Lime Goat Milk Soap – Our Coconut Lime soap has the subtle scent of lime essential oil. It’s not an overpowering scent. It’s nice, light, and lovely.
Coffee Goat Milk Soap – While this soap has a *lot* of coffee in it, coffee is a scent neutralizer so it neutralizes it’s own scent. It has a light sweet smell but that is it. It has the extra benefit that it helps get rid of scents that you don’t want… like onions or garlic.
Castile Goat Milk Soap – This soap has no added scent. It smells of the oils it is made with and that is all. It’s sensitive and gentle, and if you are someone who doesn’t want a soap that leaves a scent this is the perfect soap for you.
Oatmeal Honey Goat Milk Soap – Like the Castile this soap doesn’t have any added scent. It features the subtle warm aroma of oatmeal but it is not at all overpowering.

This lovely soap is made with the beautiful Green Tea Matcha pictured below. The scent is a little more subtle than our other varieties. It is mellow, warm, and earthy… just like a nice cup of tea.
Added bonus: They say that lemongrass essential oil helps deter mosquitos. It may not keep them all away (because what does) but it is at least something natural that you can use everyday as a way to keep some of those pesky bugs away!

We are gearing up for a very exciting season at the farmers markets. We have made some big changes to our schedule this year! We will be at the Charlottesville City Market through the summer. We will be moving to part time at the West End Farmers market. We will no longer be at the Fairgrounds Farmers Market. The Powhatan Farmers Market is now the Westchester Farmers Market… But as always we will be at South of the James (we love our GrowRVA family). Here is our schedule for the upcoming summer:

Our Virginia Cedar Goat Milk Soap features the fresh woody scent of Virginia Cedar essential oil.
Our Virginia Cedar Goat Milk Soap is the same recipe as our Castile soap, so it’s has the same wonderful lotion like lather. We have always suggested using our Castile soap as a shave bar, because the lather gives you an outstanding shave surface. With that in mind we designed our Virginia Cedar to be a shave bar for men. This is obviously not the only use for this soap but it is certainly what we had in mind while making it.

Virginia has really become a beer hub over the last decade. Virginians love their beer, so having a beer soap in our line just seemed fitting. We paired up with Final Gravity Brewery in Lakeside, VA and used their malted barley from Woods Mill Malt House in Nelson County, VA. We developed this wonderful, rich colored soap, that features a warm oat-like aroma. It’s the perfect soap for all the beer lovers out there!

There are going to be some changes to our market schedule this year. One of the most significant changes is that we will not be at the West End Farmers Market full time anymore. We have been working on broadening our reach, so Kevin is now working at the Charlottesville City Market. Our customers at the West End Market have been loyal to us for years and we didn’t want to completely abandon them so we have found Tara! She will be handling the market for us this year.
Tara will have a booth at the market for us part time this summer. You guys are going to love her! This is her neighborhood so you might even know her already. Stop by on opening day and say hi!
